Berlin had just turned into Germany’s capital, when Alexander abandoned his political science studies to launch Kiss FM — Berlin’s first multicultural DJ radio: little did he know he was laying the foundation for a life’s mission. Captivated by the magic of bringing diverse people together, he soon found himself building bridges between worlds: connecting entrepreneurs through media-lounges, uniting Berlin’s club scene through the ClubCommission, and ultimately, managing diplomatic relations by founding Berlin’s Embassy Network.
After a decade advising ambassadors, his vision crystallized with AusserGewöhnlich Berlin – an experiment that blossomed into one of Germany’s most influential civil society networks. Today, as founder of the Global Impact Citizen Alliance and chairman of his own foundation, Alexander’s journey has come full circle: using the networking science he pioneered ("Dictyonomie-Institut") to mobilize companies and investors toward the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals – especially SDG17 (networks and partnerships).I discovered something extraordinary happens when you connect people who’d never normally meet, Alexander recalls.
