More astronauts have circled the Earth than the number of people who have sailed single-handed non-stop without assistance around the world.
Pete Goss knows better than most people the risks and dangers having already clocked up well over 250,000 nautical sea miles.
Pete came to the world’s attention in December ‘96 when sailing ‘Aqua Quorum’ the smallest boat in the world’s toughest yacht race - The Vendee Single Handed Round the World Race, when he dramatically turned around and rescued a French yachtsman and fellow rival Raphael Dinelli from his stricken vessel. for which Pete has been awarded the MBE by HM The Queen and the Legion d´Honneur by the French President.
Most recently Pete gathered together the team and sponsors that enabled the construction of the world famous giant catamaran ´Team Philips´; a five year long project that ended with the sad loss of the boat, but thankfully not the crew, in a freak mid Atlantic storm December 2000.
Always leading from the front Pete is recognized as someone who can put teams together and make things happen, sometimes against seemingly impossible odds. Working on the cutting edge of technology his teams have to be both complex and diverse. Their skills and responsibility range from design to build, sponsorship, PR and of course the adventure itself.
His next project, in partnership with Alan Chambers MBE, is to complete Scott’s epic journey from Mc Murdo to the South Pole and back again with no outside assistance. It is further than from London to Rome and back again and is seen as the last chapter in the Golden age of Antarctic Exploration.
