Olen kuullut tuon otsikon kysymyksen monesti henkilöiltä jotka ovat yrittäneet salata jotain haastattelutilanteessa. Rehellisyys on ainoa oikea tapa lähestyä asiaa kuin asiaa, mutta on täysin inhimillistä että ihminen joko jättää asioita kertomatta tai jopa valehtelee kulkiessaan kohti omaa tavoitettaan. Yhtä inhimillistä ja luonnollista on myös se, että valheista jää kiinni, toisille helpommin kuin toisille.

Itse kuuluun tähän 0,3% väestön osaan jonka on helppo lukea aitoja tunteita toisen kasvoilta. Totta kai myös työni on opettanut lisää kehonkielen lukemisesta. Nämä paljastavat ilmeet ovat niin sanottuja mikroilmeitä. Jos eleet ovat aikalailla kulttuurisidonnaisia, niin mikroilmeet ovat universaaleja. Sama ilme voi tulla eteen niin Helsingissä, New Yorkissa kuin sademetsässäkin.  Mikroilmeet ovat todella nopeita ja ne tapahtuvat tahdosta riippumatta. Kasvojen 22 lihasparia väläyttävät ilmeen noin viidesosasekunnissa ja se on sitten menoa.

Videoiduissa haastatteluharjoituksissa tulee esiin helposti asioita joita valmennettava ei haluaisi kertoa, usein juuri paljastava mikroilme on saanut toimittajan tekemään osuvan kysymyksen vältellystä aiheesta. Valmennuksissa ei kuitenkaan opetella valehtelemaan vaan tärkeintä on ymmärtää että aidot tunteet näkyvät. On parempi siis valmistautua ja harjoitella oma viestinsä kunnolla.

Kehonkielessä ja mikroilmeissä ei ole mitään kummallista. Meistä jokainen tekee päätelmiä toisen ihmisen puheista niiden perusteella joka päivä monta kertaa. Jos olet joskus lähtenyt jostain keskustelutilanteessa ajatellen että ”mitäköhän tuo toinen oikeasti tästä asiasta ajatteli”¦” olet melko varmasti juuri tulkinnut hänen kehonkieltään. Kehonkieli on kertonut ristiriitaisia viestejä hänen sanoihinsa verrattuna. 

Tänään maanantaina alkaa MTV3-kanavalla uusi sarja jonka pääosassa ovat juuri mikroilmeet. Sarjan taustalta löytyy professori Paul Ekman joka on tutkinut jo pitkään mikroilmeitä. Ekman on tehnyt tutkimuksistaan bisneksen, hänen nettisivuiltaan (http://www.paulekman.com) löytyy runsaasti aineistoa aiheesta ja totta kai ostettavia kursseja ja kirjoja. Paljastavat valheet -sarjassa katsoja pääsee opiskelemaan aiheesta draaman kautta, sillä useimmat ohjelmassa kerrotut, mikroilmeisiin liittyvät asiat, ovat Ekmanin tutkimusten tulosta.  Kerrankin siis totuuspohjaista draamaa. Sain katsoa ensimmäisen jakson etukäteen ja täytyy sanoa että nyt taisi löytyä sarja joka kiinnostaa minua. 

Kehonkieli ja mikroilmeet tulevat esille jokapäiväisessä elämässä, yrityksissä politiikassa, parisuhteissa”¦ Tehtyäni esiintymiseen ja median kohtaamiseen liittyviä valmennuksia, olen yhä kiinnostuneempi ihmisen sanattomasta viestinnästä. On suorastaan riemukasta lukea haastateltavan tai valmennettavan sanojen takaa se oikea totuus. Joskus totuuden näkeminen voi olla myös niin tuskallista, ettei sitä halua uskoa, näin tapahtuu joskus esimerkiksi ihmissuhdeasioissa.

Yksi asia kuitenkin kannattaa muistaa: kehonkieltä, eikä mikroilmeitä kannata ylitulkita!
